Move from G4 xserve to G5

Did a search, but couldn’t find this….

Anyone have tips on moving from one server to another?

I have a G4 xserve that crashes every few days (we are pretty sure it is bad hardware)

I got a new G5 xserve and want to use it to replace the G4.
we do network login’s and i really don’t want to have to change the LDAP server info on all the clients if i don’t have to.

The home directories are all on an xraid box, and both machines have fibre channel cards.

Should I CCC to the new server and then just plug the raid into the new one?

Should i have them both online for a while and slowly move all accounts over to the new one for authentication?

Any ideas?
