Mmmmm, I had a crack at it for 2 weeks off and on and couldnt get it to work.
I’m no ldap expert, so it worried me that any OSX system update, or (eDirectory update) could break our system, and i wouldn’t be able to fix it.
With Kanaka I can let someone else worry about it…
Or you could hard code the attributes into the clients, but this will only work if your home directories are on one share point. Its much better to add the attributes or extend the schema.
The three you REALLY need are:
apple-user-homeurl
homeDirectory
uidNumber
You may be able to Map the uidNumber to something that already exist on your Novel server but the rest will have to be entered.
Don’t forget your mount records as well, I take it your OSX server is providing this?
I talked to Todd Dailey at XWorld 06 held in Sydney. Several others there had the same problem. It seems to be an issue with the os 10.4 automount function.
Todd is going back to investigate the issue and said he’d post the soloution on afp548.com and on unimactech mailing list (http://www.auc.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/unimactech)
