I configure a shared folder and apply an Access Control List to it. The folder is shared via AFP. From the client machine I mount the folder (via AFP). Can I then alter the ACL from the client machine? In my basic testing it appears the answer is no (operation not supported error) but I’m wondering if there are any tricks to allow such a thing. Note that my test setup was using local file sharing and therefore local user accounts and not OS X Server with an Open Directory configuration.

Is anyone aware of any documentation that may explain ACL interaction between client and server over AFP, similar to how this doc http://support.apple.com/kb/TA21221 explains standard UNIX privilege mapping?
