We have set up the laptops at one of our clients as mobile users so they can take advantage of Open Directory, but still wander around with their laptops. Some of the users have been complaining that when they take their laptops home that they are unable to log in until they come back to the office. This is a BIG PROBLEM. Has anyone run into this before? I assume the laptops are caching the login info, but WHY? How do we keep it from happening. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Our network of 100 users has been plagued by this problem for the last 8 months using 10.3.4 through 10.3.8. Periodically users cannot log into their laptop when they are away from our network. When they return to our network, they log into the same laptop just fine. Later that day, when they’re home, they may or may not be able to log into the laptop again.

Deleting the account, as someone suggested, works temporarily but not permanently. We have tried many solutions — related to permissions, preferences, and accounts — without luck.

This problem is very serious and it isn’t going away. I hope someone at Apple is listening and can act fast.
