Mobile home sync command line?

Anyone have any ideas? We find that the background sync isn’t always reliable. Mostly if the computer is asleep it misses the sync time and tries to sync as soon as it wakes up. The attempt seems to be before the wireless has a chance to get dhcp and then it just seems to not even try again. We have turned on login/logout sync which works great except it really slows the login time so I was looking for a way to force a background sync by a cron job or something similar.
