I’m running a couple of Macs on Leopard client binding to a Tiger server. I’ve got Kerberos working, my automounts are working but I’m not able to get the Leopard clients to recognize or mount remote users (set up as mobile accounts). Any help in fixing this will be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,

These are accounts that you already have, created using Tiger Server? My -hypothesis- is that you’ll have to recreate them.

What you might want to try is the following:
    1. Create a temp account on the Tiger server
    2. Log into it from the Leopard client
    3. Then on the Leopard client, use the Users System Preferences to turn this into a Mobile account.

So if this works, what you might then need to do is -delete- the account from the Leopard client (after synching and backing up, of course), and then recreate it.

This is a guess, I haven’t tried this (yet).

    Dave,

    More investigations.

My nfs mounts aren’t automatically mounting (home directories are nfs mounted). I used the Directory Utility to mount the nfs mount point but the mount point is now read only. Still no luck logging in as remote user.

thanks for your help. Any ideas?

    Dave,

I forgot to answer your question. I created a new user as suggested but that didn’t help the situation – I couldn’t login as the newly created user on the Leopard client. I also failed to mention that the settings I have for these client machines – ie login options to show networked users, is no longer working now that I’ve upgraded these clients to Leopard.

    thanks,
