    Greetings!

I would like to start using portable home directories this year. So far everything works pretty good and a user can login and get their home folder created.
I am interested in automating this process – currently we have all local only accounts and would migrating their data to the new account.

So I guess I’m wondering two things:

    1. Can I create a portable home directory without knowing a users password, then later sync up their account?
I think I remember reading somewhere I can create a local account, then delete the user leaving the home behind. Would I use dscl -delete for this? Are there better ways to do this?

    2. How can I make a mobile account an administrator on that computer only?
I know I can select the account after it’s created and make the user a Mobile Admin in System Prefs, but can i do this before the account is created somehwere or with dscl after it’s created?

Thanks for any info or links you can provide.
    ~Steve
