I’ve made the mistake of manually editing my /etc/httpd/httpd_macosxserver.conf file on our remote OS X Server 10.2.4 system (have run Apache for years and always did it thataway…didn’t have GUI access to the server…wanted to do it via ssh…etc.).
Not only do I find the syntax for the new Apple tags (read by serversettingsd and watchdog, apparently) difficult to sort out, but when I gave up the ssh approach and cranked up the GUI, lo and behold, the web icon is missing from the Internet tab of Server Settings–so I can’t even reconfigure the dang thing!.
It’s not a problem to stop/restart the server with apachectl; but then I don’t have the advantage of having Server Settings write the special syntax for the Virtual Servers I need to build on this host.
So, can anybody please point me to how I would 1) restore the web icon to Server Settings, or 2) find a guide to the correct syntax for the http_macosxserver.conf file, so that I can repair this heinous damage I’ve caused?
Many thanks for any help you all can spare….
