I have been trying to set up a MOSXS as a test configuration for an Xserve we bought (it just hasn’t arrived yet – and it can’t be deployed until we iron out some issues first anyway)

I’ve been having a lot of trouble with this test machine losing its IP address. I don’t know why.

It’s just sitting on a private network with only two machine physically connected – the MOSXS machine and a netboot client.

Anyway, at first, I was falling victim to the bug (I’ve read about a little now) whereby you can’t change the IP address of a machine running MOSXS [easily]. But this past few times it’s just been an arbitrary drop of its IP and any connection with configuration utilities (System Preferences, Netinfo entries, /var/db/preferences.xml, Directory Access Assistant) so now I don’t know what to do.

Does anyone have any ideas about why my machine would just forget its IP like this, or why I can’t configure it to have a new one without reinstalling the OS??

    Thanks.
