login strangeness

Login normally would log me in as one of the users – in this case name is “mac5”. All of a sudden I get logged in as mac5 but in a new folder of that name in /Library/WebServer/Documents with a new Desktop and Library. All of my stuff is part of the original “mac5” folder in Users but I cannot log in to it. If I delete the new one as root it just gets recreated when I log in again.

Suggestions anybody ??

I called Apple Support. It seemed that somehow “Users” lost its share point. Once reinstated, all is well.

I wish there was a decent manual out there. The one from Apple reads more like a catalog.
