It seems that the text property that displayed a banner in the login panel under Tiger is ignored by Leopard. This was in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist. And so far I have had little success getting the sample banner provided with the Dev Tools as an auth plugin to work either. Is anyone interested in this and are you working on a solution? Has anyone at Apple commented? I sent a message to Shawn Geddis but forgot to Cc: Joel.

So, as it turns out I had LoginwindowText as LoginWindowText so Leopard actually does honor that property. I still want to get the plugin working though because Apple says it’s the preferred way and it’s more like our Windoze build.
