Like some others, I have gotten the “misconfiguration detected in hash “user name” and “global UID” in my Directory Service error log.

I have a root user in OD with a UID of 0, and a local root user with a UID of 0. This is likely because I did a full export and import of OD from our old 10.4.x server to my brand new 10.6.x box. All is working well, and OD is running like a champ.

Still, I’d love to make this error go away, but am unsure of how to proceed. What are the consequences of changing the UID of either of the root accounts? Do I need a root user in OD, or was this just an export fluke from my 10.4 config?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Why do you have a user in OD called root? OD accounts start at UID 1000 and the initial account you set up is the diradmin account, which should be the “root” account for your OD administration.

I would delete the user in OD called ‘root,’ as it is not needed.
