Local MCX Quirkiness

I’ve been doing some testing with our environment using Workgroup Manager to set Local MCX rules (no OD server). I’ve been getting inconsistent results when I try to set plists to be managed once. We’re fairly liberal with users so they have full admin rights and can change anything they want from our suggested defaults.

I’ve had issues settings mcx settings for office plists, energy saver plists, softwareupdate server, and a few others using only once. What is strange is that many other computer groups I’ve setup have worked fine (such as the default dock).

Are any others seeing the same thing with Local MCX or have any suggestions on what may be giving me grief.

This is on a leopard only environment with 10.5.6 using 10.5.5 server admin tools.

Are you attempting to layer Computer, Group and User MCX records, or are all of your settings Computer based?

What type of inconsistent results are you seeing? With those that are giving you issues, what are you attempting to set?
