Hi guys,

Just implementing my new Xserve Quad Xeon running 10.5.1. Everything has gone rather smoothly and all critical services are up and running. I am having one issue however with adding clients to computer groups in the Workgroup Manager. I really need this to work as I have 7 labs of iMacs and require different levels of application access and other preferences to be set. In 10.4 WGM it was as easy to hit the ellipsis button (…) and add whichever computers I wanted.

I found this help file on the Apple Website http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306744. I don’ t understand why I need to bind my clients to the directory as I have never done this before. I tried binding one of my clients, and then adding to the computer group but no luck.

Has anybody had a similar experience. Please help!

    Thanks in advance.

My server is the Open Directory Master so that means they are using my directory I am assuming? I don’t really understand why it is not working. Could you elaborate?

What is trusted binding and how can I set that up? Is it easy enough?

    Thanks

I was maybe a little hasty in posting for help. I’ve given it a day, came back and did an unbind on the Leopard client I was testing with, (in Directory Utilities), and then went through the process to Bind to my OD and the computer is now coming up in the computer accounts like you said macshome and I can add it to a group. Seems strange that this would be changed from 10.4 Server to be much more involved, but hey, if it works, I’m happy. 😀
