    Trying to install Tiger Server onto an iMac DV (Slot Loading DVD) to test out before moving into production environment.

    Kernel panic on startup.

    Relevant part…..

    —–
    panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002DE020): Unable to find driver for this platform: “PowerMac2,1”.
    —–

    Machine will boot Tiger Client DVD & install normally.

    iMac is supported, per apple.com:

    Xserve or Xserve G5, Power Mac G5, Power Mac G4 and Macintosh Server G4, Power Macintosh G3 (Blue & White) and Macintosh Server G3 (Blue & White), iMac and iMac G5, eMac and Mac mini computer
    256MB of RAM, at least 512MB of RAM for high-demand servers running multiple services
    Built-in FireWire
    4GB of available disk space
