Kerberize my OD

Greetings,
can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong .

new install 10.4, upgrade to 10.4.5 standalone server.

promote to Open Directory Master –okay.

Name Shortname Password Verify

Domain info ( this is where i’m fuzzy)
Kerberos Realm — <<< Blank >>>
Search Base dc= hostname, dc=local

in kerberos Realm i have added my domain in All caps, and in search base i have added the full path. okay,…

two buttons add kerberos record and kerberize.
following instructions on page 82 open directory pdf,

I clicked kerberize
Admin name ( open dir admin )
password ( uh huh )
Realm ( dns name in caps )

Boink! nothing, no answer, no alert, no kerberize. Does not take the admin password I guess. any hints clues?

Check your DNS.

host hostname

and

host ipaddress

should come back with correct responses.
Check your hostname is set correctly too with ‘hostname’

I keep getting, you must authenticate as administrator. it’s not reading the Diradmin or the local account.
