Anyone having success with IPv6 in Tiger and Leopard? I have 10 GRFX stations connect to an Xserve… From the apple forums I see that both SMB and NFS is not supported bu IPv6. What about AFP? From what little I know about IPv6 it seems that if it were in place and supported, the through put on the same GB backbone might double or more in speed with the same infrastructure… Anyway have a good website they can recommend?
We have IPv6 deployed internally and it generally works quite well. Moving to IPv6 for performance reasons is not recommended. If you are concerned about file sharing performance look at enabling jumbo frames and optimizing the storage system of your file servers.
I’m using IPv6 AFP to connect to a number of file servers (OS X & windows EZiP) without issue. Time machine even works quite well in this setup.
