ParticipantTwo really weird things are happening:
1. I install iLife 08, then later in my catalog install the iPhoto 7.1.5 update. When you image a machine and log in, iPhoto is broken. It has the default icon and when you click it, it bounces but will not launch. I commented out the 7.1.5 update and upon logging in it works fine. I manually installed the 7.1.5 update and it still worked fine.
2. Also, when you log in for the first time, iMovie is there and works great, but there is a folder called iMovie (previous version). This is confusing because I’m installing using the Leopard install DVD, then installing iLife 08, so there was never a previous version of iMovie to begin with.
All help is appreciated =)
Thanks
Nate

ParticipantMy guess on the first item would be that the iPhoto 7.1.5 Update lists iPhoto 7.1.4 update as a requirement, which in turn requires at least the iPhoto 7.1 update (which requires only the stock iPhoto 7). The way InstaDMG works we bypass much of that system, so you can break things this way if you are not paying attention.
“iMovie (previous version).localized” usually comes from iMovie ’06. I always have that on my systems, so have never tried things without it. It is possible that the installer script is picking up that you have iMovie ’06 on your booted system and so is creating the folder. That is purely a guess, and I would have to do a lot of looking into things to check on that though (I have plans for something that would eliminate this possibility, but no time to work on it).

ParticipantAh, that makes total sense. I’ll get the 7.1 update and install that before I install the 7.1.5 update and see what it does.
The weird part is that I use a Dev image that is pretty plain except a few handy tools, so it doesn’t even have iMovie. Worse comes to worse, if I can get the iPhoto thing figured out, I’ll just make a script that deletes that previous version folder so I don’t have to stare at it anymore =)
Thank you very much for your help. I’m glad to know that the previous version thing has happened to someone else as well =) I figured it was just my bad luck.

ParticipantIf you read my reply a little more closely you will notice that you need 3 updaters, not the 1 you had: 7.1, 7.1.4, and 7.1.5.

ParticipantYea, I noticed after I started editing my catalog file =) Thank you for pointing that out though. I started looking through the dependencies for the updates (Which I should of done in the first place…) and figured it out pretty quick.
