Has anyone successfully installed postfix on 10.2

I’ve followed the articles here on afp548. I’ve even tried the scripts provided in the auxiliary/MacOSX directory within the postfix-2.0.7 download.

It appears to install, and then using postfix start is working

however, I can’t send any mail to it. When I try telnet 127.0.0.1 25 it seems to create a connection, but stops at the escape prompt. No welcome prompt!

    Can anyone help ?

I’m wanting to eventually install virus and content filtering software and from everything I’ve read, you can’t use the Apple Mail Server.
I’ve found Rav Antivirus (courtesy of afp548) which seems good, but I have’t been able to test as I can’t get Postfix to work.

thanks in advance for any help

    Kent.

[b:338903f910]testuser[/b:338903f910] has a very complete guide to installing postfix 2.0 on 10.2.x here:

I’m right in with Kent. I seem to have installed Postfix (2.0.8) on my PB17 (10.2.6, clean install) and Postfix apparently started up okay, but I get the partial telnet login and can’t send any mail from the terminal. It’s frustrating that, of all the instructions I’ve read that show how to check to see if Postfix is running, none say what to do if you have problems. 😕
