i have experience using instadmg (used it to create 10.6 SOE images, deployed fine) and just now have created a OS X 10.7 image.. the problem is when i plug the USB stick containing the instadmg image and boot into the USB and open Disk Utility i select the HD and set the source to the USB and the destination to the HD… that works fine… but then i boot into the HD it loads in the HD recovery partition everytime. i used terminal to see what was going on and the partition containing the OS isn’t listed.
note: i have tried this on two different model devices. these devices are probably 2 years old. OS was originally downloaded from the Mac Store.

    does anyone have any ideas?
    thanks

You’re restoring your InstaDMG image to the USB you boot from, and imaging the target with that live volume?

    thanks for your reply Allister…
yes… thats how i do it
i dont know what im missing… i boot into the USB, open Disk Utility and do my thing with copying the DMG to the HD.. thats works fine, reboot into HD [using Option key] but it always boots into this lion recovery partition [ the Mac OS X Utilities screen] for some strange reason…. like a loop.
