Hello all,
So I understand the basics of how to make and use an installer choices file.
Normally i stick to the items that I need and don’t pay attention to anything else in the list.
This is the first time I am working from a DVD that came with a computer, instead of the retail DVD. As such, I noticed some entries that were new to me and was wondering if anyone knew their exact use, if they should be included, excluded or simply not touched.
Round one:
choiceIdentifier WelcomeToLeopard.pkg
— choiceIdentifier CPU_UG_macpro.pkg
— choiceIdentifier CPU_AHT.pkg
— choiceIdentifier CPU_RegionalBoot.pkg
— choiceIdentifier CPUHelpFiles.mpkg
Are those going to mess with my hardware independent image?
see what they install, and use your best judgement. I’ll take a few guesses though:
> WelcomeToLeopard.pkg
Maybe there’s a Leopard tutorial? “What’s new” information?
> CPU_UG_macpro.pkg
Possibly an installer for the computer-specific portions of OS X (drivers and such) that were needed when the CD was pressed?
> CPU_AHT.pkg
Apparently some recent Macs have Apple Hardware Test on a separate, hidden partition. This may install it.
> CPU_RegionalBoot.pkg
Is this a United States installer disc? My guess would be that this would cause the machine to start up in a foreign language on first restart…maybe.
> CPUHelpFiles.mpkg
Possibly an installer for the computer-specific portions of help?
These are still guesses–I have no inside knowledge.
in the Friday, July 25 2008 @ 03:09 am CDT post that portions of the multi-touch MacBook Pro install (the multi-touch demo videos) aren’t included in 10.5 retail + 10.5.4. They aren’t in our InstaDMG build.
