I created a Lion NBI and used InstaDMG to create a Lion os to lay down on the boxes. My question is how do I get the recovery partition down using Casper? I’ve tried restoring tehe BaseSystem.dmg, but it doens’t seem to create a new partition or copy anything down.
Not sure, don’t have casper, but I found these rough steps of what the install tool does when it puts the recovery down here(via@justinelliot):

“2) Creating Lion Recover Partition Image
~
- Set the type of the partition to “Apple_Boot” with sudo asr adjust –target /dev/disk0s3 -settype “Apple_Boot””
Right now, if you have Casper, you don’t need to user InstaDMG. Just copy the InstallESD.dmg into Casper Admin and make sure to click on the checkbox stating that it’s and OS X installer. As long as you do this from a 10.7 box it will see it as an installer. Add the packages that you want added and compile. It will create the Image plus the recovery partition.
I thought that too, I built a 10.7 server, put on 8.21, made a 10.7 NBI… but every time I put down a lion image, the machine locks up. if I do a target boot the image comes down fine.
if I use my instaDMG image of lion, I can use my lion NBI and it images fine.
The only thing I can think of is that my JSS sits on a 10.6.8 machine (with the latest update 8.21), though booting the lion nbi from a 10.7server box I stood up.
