This is a fresh install. It is a weird install becaues I have a Quad G5 and only 10.4 install disks. So I installed a fresh 10.4 on a G4, installed the updates, made a network install image, and installed that on the G5. There have been some weird settings which I’ve managed to fix.

But now I’ve discovered that imapd.conf has two empty attributes: partition-default and configdirectory. I can set those to /var/spool/imap and /var/imap respectively. The imapd.conf file is only 9 lines long. I can look at the /etc/imapd.conf.default file and add entries to the imapd.conf file — that doesn’t bother me.

What bothers me is /var/imap is empty (and /var/spool/imap is too). I look on the old server and there are lots of “database” looking files.

I first noticed this when I check the “Enable Pop” and “Enable IMAP …” checkboxes in Server Admin => Mail => Settings => General. I check them and then hit save and they become unchecked.

    Any help would be appreciated…

    Thank you,
    Perry Smith
