When I am making a package I like to utilize a sparse disk image. This way all the files and directories for the package are segregated from everything else and it is very portable.
Under 10.5 I have noticed that when logged in as root, if you change the “Ignore ownership on this volume” button, it does not stick.
This happens on any type of volume. FireWire drive, disk image, internal disk…
This does not allow me to utilize sparse disk images for packaging. It keeps the “Ignore ownership on this volume” checked, and thus screws up the permissions. For now I am packaging with 10.4.
It seems like a 10.5 bug to me. I have been able to repeat it on several systems.
Anyone else notice this?
