    Hi,

I manage 1500+ macs and small number (about 60 – 70) have .local appended to their hostname like so:

    [Library:~] root# hostname
    Library.local

I have tried changing the hostname with hostname and it comes right back after a reboot. I have verified that the DHCPClientID field is empty (if it has a value, I get the .local). I have tried different options in /etc/resolv.conf with no luck.

Your help is most appreciated as this problem breaks cfengine which I use to manage the Macs.

Have you tried manually typing it into /etc/hostconfig?

    Yes, no luck doing that.
