Joel, if you want me to make this an article just let me know and I’ll get screenshots and write it up.

Several people including myself have been trying to figure out how to import Apple Remote Desktop 1.2 Computer Lists to other users. Here’s how to do it.

—Create a keychain just for ARD Computer Lists

    Open Keychain Access.

Make sure your keychain is locked

Duplicate the keychain in ~/Library/Keychains/<your username>
    (this is just a backup)

File > New > New Keychain

Create the new keychain as ARD in ~/Library/Keychains/

Enter a password for this keychain only. I make this my common admin password.

Sort the keychains by Name and look for Apple Remote Desktop

There will be a Password Item for each computer list that you have. If you have 8 computer lists you’ll see 8 items. Unfortunately the computer list name in ARD doesn’t show up in the Password Item but you can add it to the Comments attribute.

    View > Show Keychains

Highlight all the Apple Remote Desktop Password Items in the users keychain

    Edit > Copy

Click on ARD under Keychain Files

    Edit Paste

Backup the new keychain ( ~/Library/Keychains/ARD ) to a server or burn to CD.

—import already defined ARD Computer Lists

    Open Keychain Access.

    View > Show Keychains

    File > Add Keychain

Add the ARD keychain that we created from above

Click on ARD under Keychain Files

Highlight all the Apple Remote Desktop Password Items.

    Edit > Copy

Click on the users keychain under Keychain Files

    Edit Paste

Click on ARD under Keychain Files

File > Delete “ARD” > Delete References
