Hi All,
I have created a workable NetBoot with System Image Utility, and I am able to boot up into this, which is great. I have created a NetRestore with System Image Utility, and get as far as selecting English, and then selecting the partition that I want to install it on, and then it says Install Fails (big yellow triangle), “Could not validate Source – not recognized”. I am using rev 300, and the image works perfectly when I place it on a bootable firewire and boot from that image(same one that is being pushed) and then use Disk Utility to restore the partition with the .dmg that was created. Also everything is 10.6.3, that I am using.
What might I be doing wrong. Should I be using NetInstall instead, which is grayed out for some reason, everytime I use SIU for 10.6. When creating the NetRestore, for the Define NetRestore Source, my URI is using the default start which is asr://
I am assuming that this is okay, but I do not know. Also that image is not mounted on that machine when I am trying to install. I am assuming all of that should be inside the .dmg in the NetRestore.nbi folder which is on the NetBootSP0 folder.
I did try to NetBoot to it and then tried to pull it over that way, but for some reason, the partition (and only that partition) is pointing to /private/var/netboot, and does not let me Erase Image within Disk Utility, but it should be /Volumes/Ma-systemname. The Netboot machines name also starts with Ma-, but I can not see why that would cause the Volume to point to an erroneous location. When I boot into another partition, the volume shows up fine, and would allow the restore.
While I am at this, I have noticed I had to disable to the NetBoot image, within NetBootSP0 for the NetRestore one to be seen. How, do I have more that one place. Do I create NetBootSP#, where # is a finite amount of folders, and then Share them thru FileShare? (If this is what I do I assume I must use the same permissions for each SET of folders).
Thanks,
Steven Stuart
