😯
I am trying to migrate home folders from an xserve to a Windows 2003 environment. I prefer to use SMB for the home folders must be XP and 10.4 accessible and I see no reason to run 2 protocols, not to mention the limitations with AFP on Windows.
I have used Directory Access and the mountstyle -localhome disable. Everything is working except I do not get folders within the user’s home folder on the 2003 server, I only get a Desktop and a Library Folder, nothing else. The user can save to the folder and not to the local drive which is perfect for our environment. How do I get the user’s folders populated with Documents, Music, etc automatically? When I set the path on the 2003 server, the empty top level folders are created automatically.
I know its a minor detail but I want everything to look like it is on the original server. I could populate them with a script but that would be awkward and I don’t want to overwrite any existing data. I’m still in the experimental/proof of concept on this but I need to move quickly to take advantage of existing SAN space.
thanks
Smuth
