I just got a 12″ Powerbook. There are 4 screws on the bottom where there was a 256mb chip. I replaced that with a 512mb chip.

Somewhere, I think underneath the keyboard is another 128mb. I wanted to replace that with the 256mb I replaced earlier.

Does anyone have any instructions on how to open the Powerbook so I don’t screw it up. Is this RAM the same as what goes on the bottom or does it have a different shape and I won’t be able to replace it?

i think you’ll find the other ram is soldered to the motherboard, so unless you are super handy with a very very small soldering-iron i think you’re stuck.

wait until 1gb modules get a bit cheaper and throw one of those in the bottom slot.

anyways, isn’t this forum meant to be about osxserver ? rather than laptop hardware mods!

This is how the PowerBook is partitioned right now.

    #1 Jaguar 10.2.8
    #2 Jaguar Server 10.2.8
    #3 Panther 7B85
    #4 Panther Server WWDC
    #5 Yellow Dog Linux

…..so there it pertained to OS X Server 😉
