I call my server “easeserver.easesoftware.com” It is the same IP address as easesoftware.com. The easeserver is a CNAME entry. I’m generally confused by DNS stuff so I’ll start off with some simple questions.

    1) Should the reverse IP record, the PTR record, be “easeserver.easesoftwrae.com” or “easesoftware.com” or both?

    2) I have other domains going to the same IP address. One article said that I should have PTR records for each of those. Is this true?

    3) Can I have an A record for easesoftware.com and an A record for easeserver.easesoftware.com going to the same IP address?

    4) I guess really, one of my main points of confusion is what exactly is the difference between an A record and a CNAME record. To me, they both accomplish the same thing.

    Thanks for all your help.
