    Hi guys!

I’m having problems logging on to AD with users that have Norwegian characters in their name (Æ, Ø, Å). The AD plugin is set to create mobile homes and local home directories. What’s happening is this:

    – User gets logged on, but no mobile account created
    – Local home directory is created, but everything under it is owned by root:wheel

I’m guessing OSX has problems creating the account, and also setting permissions, because of the special characters in the username. However, shouldn’t OSX be able to handle this? How does this work in Japan? 🙂

    OSX version: 10.5.8
    AD version: Windows 2003

Logon with usernames that don’t have these characters work as expected.

I have this same issue with Win 2003 AD and OS X Server 10.6.3

I found that you can change owner with a loginhook to users with “ÆØÅ” and this worked, but i cannot get MCX settings from OD to User records with these characters. Get error: “ParseOneArgument: Unable to access user’s home directory:”

And when using dscl i am unable to type other than ASCII characters, also if adding local users in System Preferences you cannot use ÆØÅ in shortname.

Does any one know how to configure support for UTF-8 in RecordName in Open Directory. In apples Documentation it says that the attribute RecordName only supports ASCII characters, and not UTF-8, but it supports UTF-8 in most of the other attributes..

    Any help is very appreciated!
