Is it me or do group folders not work in WGM. I have yet to get this to work, it automounts but there are no group folders…. Also The “Add Group Folders to Dock” never works either. I have noticed the only automounting share point that really works for me is Users. I have tried others as well and permissions are always a mess. Any ideas?

I’m kicking this around as well, and am certain that I’ve fouled the permissions, as I moved the folder as root. What I need to know is what should the befault permissions be? Currently they are root and wheel.

If as you are disussing your troubles with setting up or using Groups folders, could you elaborate? Is it that Group folders are not created when you create them using WorkGroup Manager? or that users don’t connect to them by default and using the described dock features?

I’d love to wait for Panther, but not certain that I’m willing to spend more for the license.

Setting up group folders on WGM is kind of tricky, especially using 10. 2 Server.

Here is how I get it working:

    1. Create Group Folder
    2. Run from commandline–> creategroupfolder
    3. Under preferences in WGM, select Log-in, select Add group share point
    4. Under preferences in WGM, select Dock, select Add group folder
    5. Log-in on client and you should see your folder.

Remember, there is a bug in 10.2 Server that only will show a question mark in the dock if you are mounting the group folder under simplified finder. Click the question mark and the folder will appear…magically.

Let me know if you have any questions, I have many group folders functioning properly.
