I need to buy a large backup "kit" – I’ll be backing up both Windows and Mac filesystems/data.
I have an XRAID w/ Fibre Channel and a few IBM e345 dual Xeons w/ UltraSCSI controllers
I am looking for a autoloader unit that can handle in the 100TB range or so
our GIS project division could have that much static data by this summer –
otherwise we are talking only a few 100GB/week in dynamic data.
I’ve built BRU once and suppose i can do it again… though rsync seems a happy way to do things on the Macs..
on the winders boxen – not sure yet…
The Campus backup system (Backup Exec) has been hacked several times <sigh> and now the main "systems" are so burdened with their backups that they can no longer support backing up the divisional needs <double sigh>.
A Canned system like Backup Exec or RetroSpec has certain benefits, but will it have the flexibility to backup the cross platform needs I’ll have? what if I need to install bandwidth filters to slowthings down on some segments?
Help!!!!!!!
Rich
