Since upgrading our clients to Tiger many of them are having intermittent font problems. Various applications (notably Safari and AppleMail) somehow get their fonts fouled up so that the text is unreadable. The problem seems to come and go at will or at least we cannot determine what event(s) cause the fonts to get messed up or to straighten themselves out. Restarting doesn’t always help yet just waiting over night to try again sometimes does (without rebooting). This problem seems to only effect users whose home directories are managed by OD/LDAP (both 10.3.9 and 10.4.3). This is happening on both 10.4.2 and 10.4.3 clients (but not 10.3.9). While it seems client version dependent the fact that it only effects users whose home directory is on an OD server makes the server suspect. Has anyone else encountered this problem and/or have any suggestions/ideas what might be going on? TIA.
Just another note to add more confusion to the mystery. If a user is having the font problem and moves to another client machine, the font problem does not occur. If a user, that is not having that problem on their client machine, logs on the the problem client machine, that user does not have the problem. Weird.
