    Log file entry:
    Aug 21 12:51:14 orew servermgrd: servermgr_dns: configured name and reverse DNS name do not match (orew.orea.ca.gov != www2.orea.ca.gov), various services may not function properly – use changeip to repair and/or correct DNS
    Aug 21 13:10:28 orew servermgrd: servermgr_web: Could not start httpd. Check httpd error log..

    Over a period of weeks:

    1) Initial server config with en0 (enet interface) connected

    2) Had DNS folks create domain names for both en0 and en1
    en0 = orew.domain.com
    en1 = www2.domain.com

    3) Connected en1

    4) Web server service won’t start (due to name conflict?)

    5) Had domain records for en0 removed from DNS

    6) Deactivated en0 in Network settings

    7) How can I fix this without reinstalling (have SSL configged–don’t want to redo that experience)

    Steve.

    Solved the domain name problem by removing one of them from DNS and shutting down the interface. Then I used ipconfig, which led me to changeip, which cleared up the problem.

    But httpd still won’t start, and there’s nothing recent in the httpd error log to clue me in.

    Any ideas?

    Steve.

    Using the command “httpd -c DEBUG” showed that the file mod_jk_fm.so would not load (reason unknown). That’s part of FileMaker Server Advanced v8. The path was incorrect so I modified the config file, but that didn’t help. A little more googling and I surmised that I might need to upgrade to the Universal Binary version to run on my Intel Xserve, so I’ve ordered the $50 CD from FileMaker.

    I realize that most of you don’t really care, but I’m posting in case someone else is searching on some of the included terms.

    Steve
