DNS Zone transfers are not working Server 10.3

Not sure why, I have a master zone on server ns1 and a slave on ns2 with the master name server for the domain list on server 2.
Have tried a records and ns records on ns1.
These server are for internal dns, I just want a backup.
Are there any gotcha’s that I might be missing. What should i look
for. Bind is 9.2.2 we have even rebuilt 2 servers from scratch after
the first attempt failed. Any help would be appreciated.

I guess i was expecting the zones and information i/e dns records, and reverse lookup tables to show up on the slave under the zones information. It looks like they do not.

The slave has only it self as ns in its config. I can do lookups and reverse lookups. My next test is to shutdown the master and see if the slave stiill will do lookups.

Should the transfers show up in the /etv/var or var/named folders on the slave ?
