OK, I’ve read “Getting DNS Up and Running…” and every other tutorial I can find -including “DNS & Bind”! The thing that’s not clear to me is when to use which IP number.

In “Getting DNS Up and Running…”, for example, it starts by refering to mapping to 66.92.146.93, but in named files references are to 192.249.249xxx, localhost 127.0.0.1, and LAN 10.0.1.xxx. What do I use where in order for the outside world to reach me by name?

I’m attempting to serve and provide DNS for a couple of low volume websites using OS X 10.2.8. I’m on a T1 with a static address. My registered domain names are pointed to my server, My T1 provider has opened ports and has provided a reverse lookup to point to my server. I can not reach my site from outside my LAN by name, only by my static IP number.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I’ve been at this for a month now – and growing balder by the day! 😥
