I have 2 network cards, 1 configured for a internal network 192.168.2.1, the other with a static ip address supplied by my internet provider.

I have configured DNS and everything works fine on the clients. I can type in the domain name and connect to the webserver in safari.

The problem is that the server itself seems to resolve the domain name to the external ip address instead of the local ip address. At least that is what I think is happening as when I log into Workgroup manager the external ip is at the top no matter if I logon using 192.168.2.1 or server.domain.com etc.

I want to log into workgroup manager at server.domain.com, any idea where I have gone wrong?

My suspicion, as my server does the same thing, is that Workgroup Manager puts the highest priority IP address, as defined in System Preferences, as the IP that you are connecting to. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a bug, as it makes it difficult to save the server in your favorites if you have a dynamic external IP. Otherwise, this appears to affect nothing, and I wouldn’t worry about it. Since you have a static external IP, you can still save the server in your favorites.

Were you ever able to resolve this? I have the same problem. In Workgroup Manager the ISP domain always appears rather than the local domain. It is also listed as the Location in each users Account Summary.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks,
