I have a few machines that need static IPs so I am trying to use that setting in the network preferences. However, some of the machines will not bind to the LDAP server which means the user cannot even log in unless I change the network config to just DHCP. Other machines with static IPs and DHCP can bind to the LDAP server just fine. The only difference I can find between the macines that work and the ones that don’t is 10.3.4. It appears that 10.3.4 broke something. Does anyone have any ideas before I call Apple? TIA.

I may have misunderstood what I was observing. It may not be 10.3.4 at all. I think I have a DHCP problem. The following errors are showing up in the log for the machines that are having trouble:

    Jun 22 12:31:22 xserveone bootpd[9030]: subnet entry C2A5D8A0-BD7E-11D8-903A-000A957BF730 is missing option dhcp_netinfo_server_address

Does this mean anything to anyone? TIA.

Try adding the machine to the static list in DCHP under:

DCHP > Settings > Static Maps

    Take Care,

I get the same error; “is missing option dhcp_netinfo_server_address”
I’ve figured the (HEX) is the name of the DHCP block that I built. I have played with the buttons. I have moved the .plist to a different server. I get the same problem.

Thanks for the tip Yogi, and don’t take offence, but it would be more annoying to statically map everyone who walks in the door than it would be to have the error message in the log.

I have otherwised not experienced adverse effects of this log entry.

Siting, waiting, wishing for another solution.

I have the same error. I can’t pick up any dhcp info, and therefore can’t netboot. I had one computer’s logic board and power supply replaced MULTIPLE times and still the problem persists. I don’t think the problem is xserve related as the mac superstore was able to reproduce the problem and I could on a different network. Once, I had the problem fixed or so I thought. I re-installed the base OS and reset the PMU, voila the problem was fixed for 1 day. The next day it was out again. If anyone has any solutions please let me know.

I provide dhcp static mapping to the computers with netboot filtering enabled.
