I have a firewall running on my server (10.4) and I started up the DHCP server. It didn’t work until I opened up the DHCP ports on the firewall. However I had to do this in the ‘any’ group. I didn’t understand what was going on in I looked at the firewall log. When my devices were querying the DHCP server the request was coming from 0.0.0.0 . It seems that with no ip address the device uses the 0.0.0.0 address before it gets assigned an ip address by the server. I added the address 0.0.0.0 to the 10-group since I wanted full access to all ports and was able to get DHCP server to serve just I. The LAN.

Any comments? Are there other addresses that are used in the DHCP protocol that I need to pass? In particular I saw address 255.255.255.255 in my logs having been blocked but it didn’t seem to block DHCP success.
