    Hi all,

Has anyone managed to successfully automate the adding of Canon CAPT printers to 10.6 workstations?

The Canon setup, when ‘correctly’ configured, has CUPS communicate with the local host on it’s own port (host address is cndbma://localhost:59687). Therefore, as part of the ‘normal’ adding process (Add Printer -> Default -> More Printers > Canon CAPT), the Canon ‘driver’ must register the printers details with itself locally as well as creating the CUPS queue, as it will use the same local port for multiple CAPT printers. Obviously this means it can’t be as simple as managing the queues via MCX – the part that I’m interested in is actually configuring whatever is listening on port 59687.

I have a feeling the customer might end up manually deploying all THREE of the printers they went and bought elsewhere without consulting me >.< Cheers Joe
