ParticipantSince everyone here is working with Macintosh based solutions I figure there is a fair chance I am not the only one who has a background in graphic arts. For some time I have been hoping to hear of a open source DAM solution. I read a project that is ongoing at Sourceforge that sounds absolutely fantastic and hope it eventually comes to light.
In the meantime I have also found out about one project that is available today and another that will be coming later this year.
Today you can get Fedora:
I like the sound of this solution as it utilizes MySQL.
Later this year another solutions will be available:
If anyone is aware of other solutions that meet professional digital asset management needs I would love to hear about them.

Yes they can. They should both have the capacity. I have not tested Fedora yet, but here is from the home page of Flexstor:
[i:0f9488bcf7]FLEXSTOR is a leading developer of enterprise content and digital file asset management software technology that enables customers to effectively store, retrieve, present and manage large volumes of digital information, wherever it resides. These digital assets may be in the form of videos, images, logos, documents, marketing collateral, articles, web pages, photos or other digital files.[/i:0f9488bcf7]
Please note that Flexstor is currently a commercial product and will not be open source until third quarter of this year.

ParticipantDIGITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT
I wanted to have a consolidated list where myself and others can conveniently find digital asset management solutions. Specifally at the moment, this list excludes records management and web content management software. The software listed varies between business- and enterprise-class scalability and flexibility. Clearly amateur or small-scale solutions are excluded.
They’re organised into (a) those that run Mac server and client-side, and (b) those with Mac clients only. The product name, not company name, is listed.
Only Mac OS X is considered. If a DAM only has OS 9 support, then they don’t count.
