    Hi folks:

Why, after performing a reconstruct, do all messages have to revert to unread status?

I moved today from 10.3.8 to 10.3.9, and in doing so I had to do a reconstruct -i command. For POP users who leave messages on the server, this causes all messages to be downloaded again, creating thousands of duplicates for some users in their inboxes. IMAP is not so bad…messages are set to unread, but no duplications occur, but reply-to status is lost.

Is it the case that Apple’s cyrus implementation does not create a cyrus.seen for each mailbox in the mailstore? This file is supposed to contain the sequence of numbers of the messages that have been seen in the mailbox. I do not see a cyrus.seen file in any mailbox. There are some .seen files in the imap config directory (/var/imap/user) for each user, for example:

    jsmith.seen

I tried experimenting with these .seen files by restoring them from backup, but no luck.

Is there any insight on this?

    Thanks,
    Bryan
