I am a bit consufed to say the least. I thought cryadm was packaged with panther server (at least the command exists). But, as I found out, it doesn’t work out of the box. So MacTroll was kind enough to point me to his install package and now cryadm does run but I get the error:

Cannot authenticate to server with as userid

It appears to me this error not bad english but rather there is a name (server name?) missing between ‘with’ and ‘as’. The command I used was:

    cryadm –user userid –server localhost

    What am doing wrong? TIA.

Thanks again but that did not help. I do question what you mean by “add an IMAP administrator account.” I added it via the Workgroup Admin tool. Should it instead be added to /etc/password? Does it need to be set up in a specific group or with some other parameter(s)?

I had a slightly different problem. cyradm would first ask me for a password, I gueess the one associated with the ‘-u username’, which it accepted. But then it asked for “IMAP password”. What the heck is thi? I have a system of a small number of passwords, I tried all of them and nothing worked. I couldn’t find a reference to “IMAP password” anywhere.

What I did in the end, and this may help you, was to first su to the mail admin user, then type ‘cyradm’, then “server” and the server name.
    That worked ffor mee.

May or may not help for you, givee it a go.

    Good luck
