    Hi all,

I’m new to InstaDMG, as have started a new job. But previously used Casper Suite.

I’m trying to create a catalog including CS5. I know instaup2date has issues with this, but will the following work?

Create pkg of AAME’d CS5 which puts the cs5 pkg in /var/tmp.
    Install this via instaup2date
Firstboot script then installs the pkg.

This is similar to the Casper suites workflow.

    Hey bentoms,

InstaUp2Date is merely a convenience that then runs instadmg.bash for you, saving you the folder setup step and adding repeatability.
That being said, as long as your using AAME, the thing I’ve heard most likely for success is using http://code.google.com/p/munki to install on firstboot, or you could possibly add a workflow to DeployStudio if thats what you’re using to deploy the image anyway. Let us know how it goes, and feel free to look at the sticky on this forum for an IRC group and wiki that we’d love to hear from you at. Thanks,

    Allister

i second using munki for this.

my usual approach is to build the base image (os + local admin account + munki) and install apps and whatever else on first boot via munki or other methods.

it’s not worth building in huge app suites for me, since my clients’ needs will be different. the modular approach is way more flexible.
