    Hello Everyone,

I am going to be doing a fairly large user migration from old iBooks with 10.4 to new Macbooks with 10.5 and portable accounts this summer and I’m trying to automate the process as much as possible. I currently have everything 90% complete; ASR, Package Based Image, post process scripts to transfer user files & verify that everything went according to plans, ect… The only problem that I couldn’t sort out is the creation of mobile accounts via a script/command line.

I know that mobile accounts are stored locally, and I just can’t seem to find the required differences between local and mobile accounts in order to create them via the command line. If anyone has any input I would truly appreciate it.

    TIA

Could I see the scripts you use to migrate your users?

    I’d really appreciate it

are you asking how to create a mobile home directory on the managed client (laptop) itself? or how to create them in the server?

if its how to create a PHD (portable home directory) on the client itself, you can’t. You manage that via WGM. You select either the user/computer/group that you want to assign to PHD, click preferences, mobility, and “always” in account. There are many other options here that you can assign as well. Once this is setup and the client is bound to your OD server the client will be able to login. The mac should then ask if they want to create their mobile home. That’s it.

And of course you want to make sure that you have a home directory assigned and created, and populated in WGM first.
