Hello!

Thanks again for the fantastic site. I have been living here lately trying to learn as much as I can. My Unix has always been the bare minimum required until the last few years.

I was trying to build the ultimate email system using the info from this site as the base to work from. Namely EXIM, Mailman, Spam Assassin, ClamAV, Amavis, Squirrelmail. To this I was wanting to add a Pop3/IMAP server of course. You seem to suggest UW IMAP. My question is that I found a PHP project that intrigued me, though I don’t know if it runs on OS X. It is XAMS http://www.xams.org/ and it is meant to manage accounts in MySQL for EXIM and Courier IMAP. This sounds just delightful. I tried loading Courier IMAP and hit errors. I plan to try again on Monday with the help of a Unix friend of mine, but thought I would check with the forum here first.

My real goal is a nice PHP interface to control these different apps (nice as in PHPMyAdmin) and that all applications utilize MySQL as much as possible so I can connect these to custom solutions and other databases.

Thanks again! I am excited to have this mail system up and running soon so I can transition from EIMS.

My only fear is that something will get clobbered the next time Apple updates the server software.

    Thanks to MacTroll’s link:

I think we have Courier-IMAP, Exim, and Spam Assassin all play well together and managed via the nice MailAdmin app provided.

Still have to get ClamAV done. Hoping I can use the instructions from this site for that.
