This is an insert from the following web site

    http://macosx.si.umich.edu/public/viewHowTo.php?HowToID=46

“The built-in network card also known as en0 will be used to create the internal network which is manually setup with an IP address of 10.0.0.1/24. This sets up a class C network which can handle 254 clients. Adjust this according to your needs. The second network card, known as en1, will be connected to the Internet and should be setup according to the instructions provided by your ISP.

    FAQ:

Q: Why do I need to create my private network on the Built-in Ethernet card (en0)?

A: The Open Directory service will bind the Open Directory Master to whatever network exists on en0. Since you do not want to provide the information stored in the Open Directory to the Internet at large, you need to make sure the Open Directory is bound to your local subnet. “

Apparantely according to this article Open Directory Master allways bonds with En0.

My understanding is that Open Directory Master allways bonds with the first En card it finds in the Network Preferences Panel, wich usually means that it bonds with the external world when the server is roght behind the ISP router.

    Can anyone clarify this ?

Does Open Directory Master bond with en0 where ever it or with the top en ?

    Thanks
