command-line compression util

hi,

here’s my problem: i’m trying to copy about 20g of media files (with illegal characters galore) from a slightly messed-up and almost entirely full os x partition to a fat32 partition. i need a command-line compression util that ignores disk errors, allows me to create multiple volumes, and maybe also includes a “store” option (that is, no compression). anyone know of such a thing? tar will ignore errors but won’t create multiple volumes, and 7za (my personal favorite) will create multiple volumes but not ignore errors.
