Character Palette

I noticed that all of my images have the same issue… a missing character palette choice under System Preferences > International > Input Menu.

(I’m building a 10.5.3 ASR off of a 10.5.3 MacBook Pro, using an InstallerChoices.xml file to skip extra print drivers, additional fonts, and language translations.)

There’s an easy fix here: [url]http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20071123103246253[/url] that has you delete international data caches from /System/Library/Caches.

My question: anybody else seeing this? Ideas as to why it might happen?

We are seeing it and the fix you referenced is what we’re using as well.
No idea why its happening, though.

It’s not something that you’re doing to the machine that’s causing problems, if you’re concerned about that. It apparently happens frequently enough to merit an Apple KBase article:
